Friday, October 28, 2011
On Thursday October 27, 2011 just after 2 PM, deputies with the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office were alerted that a residential burglary had just occurred in the 100 block of LaPlace Street in north Lafayette Parish. As deputies were responding additional calls were received that indicated the neighbor of the victim was following the green Mercury Grand Marquis which had just pulled away from the victim’s home. Deputies then received information that the suspects in the burglary had fired gunshots at the witness along I-49 service road, the witness’s vehicle was disabled but not until he had obtained the license plate number on the suspect vehicle. An inquiry of the license plate number revealed the registered owner lived off Carmel Drive in Lafayette Parish and deputies responded to that address where they were able to locate the car. Two subjects were detained, later positively identified and arrested as the persons who had committed the burglary on LaPlace. After the execution of a search warrant investigators did recover the stolen items and the suspects were charged as follows:
Norris Landor 26 years of age charged with attempted first degree murder and burglary
Jarvis Ardoin 19 years of age charged with burglary.
Deputies reported that though the unidentified witness was not injured his vehicle was disabled as a result of the gunshots that struck the vehicle during the gunfire.
