New Public Safety Complex Bids Awarded

The Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office announced today that it has awarded the right to sell $21 million in new construction bonds to Raymond James Financial Services. The winning interest rate bid was 2.76%. Prior to the bond proposal, the Lafayette Sheriff’s Office had received a bond rating of AA by Standard and Poor’s, an indication of the agencies strong fiscal management.
The Sheriff’s Office today also awarded the construction contract to build the new LPSO Willow Street Public Safety Complex to the Ratcliff Construction Company of Alexandria, Louisiana. The project is now on track to break ground in March or April of this year. It is estimated that total construction time will be 18 months.
The new facility, when complete. will include a 200 - bed Transitional Work facility and a 216-bed of Minimum Custody Secure Housing facility. The complex will also be the home of a new Professional Development and Training Center, Video Visitation Facility and Warehouse Building. The Warehouse Building will include a central laundry, Inmate Industries, central warehouse, facilities maintenance and processing areas.
