Pursuit Ends in Crash

Wednesday, March 28, 2012

On Wednesday March 28, 2012, Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Deputies encountered a white Jaguar which was being sought in an earlier hit and run investigation.  Deputies attempted to pull this vehicle over at St Antoine Street near Cameron, the driver accelerated turning onto Cameron, Delord and eventually Simcoe Street continuing to obviously evade the deputies.  The suspect vehicle continued through the intersection of Simcoe at University at a red light and struck two vehicles that were traveling on University.  As a result three people were transported to local hospitals where they are being treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 47 year old Melvin Colomb of Lafayette and have charged him with Aggravated Flight from an Officer and Resisting Arrest.

Additional charges are expected following today’s crash and the investigation into the driver in the previous hit and run underway.  Both incidents are being investigated by the Lafayette Police Department.
