Acadiana Recovery Center Joins the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office Trea
Wednesday, March 6, 2013
The Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office is proud to announce that as of today the Acadiana Recovery Center is now under its direction and management. The Center up until today had been operated and managed by Lafayette Consolidated Government. Under a new agreement with the State and Lafayette Consolidated Government the facility will be operated as part of the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office Treatment Programs Department.
The Acadiana Recovery Center is a residential and outpatient treatment program provider licensed under the Department of Health and Hospitals/Bureau of Health Standards. The Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office also provides residential substance abuse services to the area. “Combining our substance abuse treatment program resources with theirs makes both financial and practical sense,” says Marie Collins, LPSO Treatment Services Manager who will now oversee the combined operation.
The building which is located adjacent to the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center in Downtown Lafayette has always been property of the Sheriff’s Office, but operated by Lafayette Consolidated Government. “From the beginning Sheriff Neustrom recognized the advantages of combining treatment operations, but the idea had to wait until the transfer of the financial operating agreement with the State could be worked out,” said Rob Reardon, Director of Corrections. The facility has been financed by a Federal Block Grant. “ The ARC facility has a capacity of 24 patient beds. When you combine our 38 inpatient beds and the additional outpatient substance abuse treatment services we provide, we can now accommodate over 100 patients to this greatly needed service,” adds Reardon. Both types of treatment service are available to the general public. For more information contact ARC or The Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office at 337.236.5448
