Marcelle Drive Homicide/Suicide Information

Friday, June 28, 2002

Sheriff Michael W. Neustrom and Detectives with the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office are releasing the following information about Thursday’s homicide/suicide. At approximately 7:25 PM, the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office was called to a shooting that occurred on Marcelle Drive in Lafayette, whereby 26 year old Chad Bailey of the 600th block of Bernard Street in Carencro, was shot several times and died at the scene. Witnesses identified the shooter as 22-year-old Randy Boudreaux of the 100th block of Cheyenne Circle in Scott. At approximately 7:51 PM, Boudreaux was located near the 4300th block of Cameron Street, where he died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Detectives have determined that Boudreaux and Bailey had an ongoing dispute; Boudreaux sought out Bailey, a chase ensued, Boudreaux shot Bailey multiple times, fled the scene, and then Boudreaux turned the gun on himself at the Cameron Street location.
