Wednesday, November 30, 2011
November 30, 2011
Subject charged with aggravated rape of child
On November 15, 2011, Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Deputies received a report of an alledged rape which had occurred in 2008 at a Lafayette Parish apartment complex, the mother of the victim reported to deputies that her daughter currently a juvenile had disclosed that Jarius Terrell Carson currently 19 years of age of Lafayette had intercourse with the victim who was under 13 years old in 2008. Investigators conducted their investigation and after several unsucessful attempts to locate Carson for an interview an arrest warrant was issued for Carson on November 21, 2011. Deputies have been attempting to execute that warrant for 9 days and on November 30th shortly after 4 PM deputies assigned to the Warrants Unit located Carson on Scottsdale near its intersection with Winward at which point Carson attempted to elude capture on foot. Deputies gave chase and took Carson into custody and transported him to the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center where he was charged with Aggravated Rape. Tthough Carson was only 15 years old at the time of this crime he is being treated as an adult offender since a Judicial District Court Judge has determined that probable cause does exisit against Carson. Investigators have indicated that Carson was not a stranger to the victim in this case though Investigators will not be more specific then that. Carson is being held in lieu of a $250,000.00 bond
