Wednesday, October 24, 2012
On Tuesday, October 23, 2012 Det. Casey Barfield was honored with an award by the Hearts of Hope Foundation / Children Advocacy Center of Louisiana for his hard work on the Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) Board.
Det. Barfield has exhibited outstanding leadership and service to the community resulting in the enhanced quality of service provided to children. Det. Barfield has done this by assisting other agencies, reviewing monthly cases with the MDT board, and increasing the awareness and prevention of child abuse in the community.
Det. Barfield has also volunteered his time to educate and train other agencies, volunteers, and other advocate workers on the statue of laws as it pertains to sexual abuse. He recently volunteered to act as the Detective in the educational film “Beyond the Pain.” This is an educational film geared towards encouraging parents of children who have been sexually abused to obtain education, guidance and counseling for them, so they may be a more positive support person for their child.
Det. Barfield’s commitment and dedication to the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office, the Hearts of Hope Multi-Disciplinary Team, and his service to the Children of Lafayette Parish is the reason he was awarded the Children’s Advocacy Center of Louisiana MDT Award.
