Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office Offender Labor Crews recently completed construction of a new metal storage building on the grounds of the Lafayette Fire Department’s Louis F Babin Institute of Fire Training located at 300 N Dugas Road. This new building is much like the Lafayette Police Department Bus Barn which is used to protect and house Lafayette Police Department Mobile Command Buses. The new building at the fire training center is rated for hurricane strength winds.
Using Offender labor greatly reduces the cost of construction to public projects saving money for Lafayette Consolidated Government and the tax payers of Lafayette Parish. Projects such as these also providing work skill training for the offenders involved.
