Sergeant Samantha Hayes Awarded Challenge Coin Award
Tuesday, September 2, 2014
The Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office proudly announces that Sergeant Samantha Hayes has been selected as the latest winner of the Challenge Coin Award. This award recognizes Corrections employees who, through their work ethic and actions, personify the attributes of leadership, creativity, honor and innovation. Samantha works in the Training Department of the Corrections Division. The award is unique in that every new winner is selected by the current winner, making it truly a peer-to-peer award.
Sergeant Hayes was nominated by Deputy Kara Smith the prior winner. In her nomination letter, Kara wrote, “I had the pleasure to have Sgt. Hayes as my shift Sergeant for approximately a year and a half and within that time she has given me the knowledge and encouragement to excel at my job. She always took the time from her duties to educate and explain any questions, or concerns I would have when it came to my job as a correctional officer. She always came to work with a positive and progressive attitude, and her diligent work ethic has inspired and motivated me to further my career with Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office.”
The Challenge Coin Award process now stipulates that Lawrence identify and nominate the next award winner. Congratulations Sergeant Hayes on being recognized for a job well done!
