LPSO Drug Testing Services Celebrates First Year with a Client Luncheon

Friday, October 3, 2014

A year after opening the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office Drug Testing Services Department,  the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office hosted a lunch today in celebration of its first year in operation. In attendance of the commemoration were LPSO staff, LPSO Drug Testing Services clients, and featured speaker, Larry Wilkie with Thermo Fisher Scientific, maker of the lab’s testing equipment.  Mr. Wilkie shared information about drug testing as well as answered questions from those in attendance.
LSPO Drug Testing Services is located on the LPSO Community Corrections Campus located on Poydras Street in Lafayette. LPSO Drug Testing Services provides testing services for the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office, as well as many other area law enforcement and criminal justice agencies. LPSO Drug Testing Services has saved the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office thousands of dollars by eliminating the need to send mandatory and court ordered drug tests out for third-party, higher-cost testing.

Making the service available to other area agencies has also helped those agencies reduce their costs as well. Among the area law enforcement, criminal justice and other public agencies using the LPSO Drug Testing Services  are the 15th Judicial District Court, Lafayette Parish School System, DCFS (Department of Child and Family Services), Probation and Parole, Iberia and St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Offices, AAHSD (Acadiana Area Human Services District), Office Of Juvenile Justice, Lafayette City Court, and Adult Drug Court.

Today the LPSO Drug Testing Services lab conducts an average of 500 tests a week and provides testing for over 20 different drug categories, including synthetic marijuana, Soma, Spice (K2), and Tramadol. Custom drug testing panels can be created based on the client’s needs, with most results available the same day. For more information on the services provide at LPSO Drug Testing Services and to find out if your agency is eligible to contract with the lab, contact Krystal Mouton,  LPSO Drug Testing Services Supervisor, at 337.231.6365 ext. 4225, or by email at
