Resiliency groups can increase student's perceptions of confidence and self-worth, develop awareness of substance abuse and violence, help with reducing disciplinary behavior in school, and foster community involvement to promote youth development.
Students attend weekly group meetings and participate in monthly community
service or adventure activities. Resiliency groups are held at area schools during
elective hours. Students are responsible for missed class assignments and lectures.
The Leadership and Resiliency Program is a school-based and community-based
program for middle school and high school students that works on enhancing
a youth's decision and coping skills in an effort to reduce their involvement
substance use and violence.
